Last month, Automotive Grade Linux (AGL) exhibited at CES 2019, one of the largest tech conferences in the industry drawing crowds of more than 188,000 professionals from across the consumer electronics and automotive tech industries.
Each year, CES tends to be a crystal ball, revealing what’s to come and what trends to watch in the technology industry. This year at CES, automotive and the connected car took center stage. Right in the middle of the fanfare was Automotive Grade Linux, with a stellar line up of members showcasing the tech they are developing and supporting using the AGL Unified Code Base (UCB).
During the show, the AGL booth was home to 18 member companies demonstrating connected car services, audio innovations, instrument cluster applications, security solutions, and more running on AGL technology. Participating AGL members included AISIN AW, Audiokinetic, Cognomotiv, DENSO, DENSO TEN, EPAM Systems, Fiberdyne Systems, ForgeRock, Igalia, LG Silicon Valley Lab, Microchip, NTT DATA MSE, Panasonic, Renesas, SafeRide Technologies, Toyota, Tuxera and VNC Automotive.
In addition to member demos, core AGL UCB demos included Amazon Alexa speech recognition APIs, Instrument Cluster, and Infotainment.
Toyota also displayed its 2019 RAV4, which includes an AGL-based infotainment system now available in Toyota and Lexus vehicles globally.
AGL also hosted an intimate, in-booth evening reception where more than 150 guests had an opportunity to nosh and network with AGL community members.
To add to the excitement, the AGL Unified Code Base (UCB) platform was recognized as a CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree. The CES Innovation Awards is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products, and this recognition only validates the momentum this project is experiencing.
